Credenti SMS Gateway – Sign-In Verification Messages
Last Updated: October 16, 2026

1. Overview

IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ BEFORE ENROLLING A MOBILE PHONE NUMBER FOR SMS VERIFICATION

These SMS Terms & Conditions (“SMS Terms”) govern text messages sent through the Credenti SMS Gateway, operated by Credenti LLC (“Credenti,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

1.1 Program Description

Credenti provides SMS delivery of one-time passcodes (“OTPs”) on behalf of organizations that use Credenti with their identity provider, such as Okta or Microsoft Entra ID (each, an “Organization”). These messages are used only to verify your identity when you sign in to, enroll in, or recover access to your Organization’s applications (“SMS Program”). Messages are delivered through our telecommunications provider, Twilio Inc., which processes message data in accordance with the Twilio Privacy Notice.

1.2 Applicability

These SMS Terms apply to any individual who enrolls a mobile phone number to receive verification codes through the SMS Program (“you”). They supplement, and do not replace, Credenti’s EULA & Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Your Organization’s own policies may also apply to your use of its applications.

1.3 Relationship with Your Organization

Your Organization decides whether SMS is offered as a verification method. Credenti sends messages solely on your Organization’s behalf and only when a verification code is requested through your Organization’s sign-in page.

2. Opt-In and Consent

2.1 SMS Is Optional

SMS verification is optional. Your Organization’s sign-in page may offer other verification methods, such as an authenticator app. You are not required to provide a mobile phone number or to consent to SMS messages as a condition of using your Organization’s applications where another method is available.

2.2 How You Opt In

You opt in to the SMS Program when you:

  • choose “Phone” or “SMS” as a verification method on your Organization’s sign-in or account security page;
  • enter your own mobile phone number in the phone number field; and
  • select the option to receive a code by text message (for example, “Receive a code via SMS”).

By completing these steps, you consent to receive one-time verification codes by text message at the number you provided.

2.3 Confirmation

After you enroll, a one-time code is sent to your mobile phone. Entering that code confirms that the number belongs to you and completes your enrollment.

2.4 No Marketing Messages

The SMS Program is used only for sign-in verification. Credenti does not send marketing, promotional, or advertising messages through the SMS Program, and your consent is not used for any other purpose.

3. Messages

3.1 Message Content

Messages contain a one-time verification code only. Example: “Okta-Credenti: Your verification code is 123456.”

3.2 Message Frequency

Message frequency varies. A message is sent only when you enroll a phone number, sign in, or verify your identity and request a code.

3.3 Use of Codes

Verification codes are for your use only. Do not share your code with anyone. Credenti and your Organization will never ask you for a verification code by phone, email, or text message.

4. Costs

Standard message and data rates may apply to SMS recipients based on their mobile carrier and service plan. Credenti does not directly charge SMS recipients for messages received through the SMS Program.

Organizations using Credenti SMS Gateway may be subject to licensing fees, messaging charges, or other applicable fees as specified in their agreement with Credenti.

5. Opt-Out and Help

5.1 How to Opt Out

Opt-out requests are processed automatically by our messaging provider, Twilio. You may cancel the SMS Program at any time by replying STOP to any message. Other supported keywords include CANCEL, END, QUIT, UNSUBSCRIBE, and STOPALL. You will receive one confirmation message, after which no further messages will be sent to your number. You may also remove SMS as a verification method from your account security settings on your Organization’s sign-in page.

5.2 Effect of Opting Out

After you opt out, you will not receive verification codes by text message. You will need to use another verification method available from your Organization, or contact your Organization’s IT help desk.

5.3 Opting Back In

To start receiving messages again, reply START, YES, or UNSTOP to the number that sent your verification codes. Re-subscription requests are processed automatically by our messaging provider, Twilio. Re-enrolling your phone number on your Organization’s sign-in page alone will not resume messages after you have opted out.

5.4 Help

For help, reply HELP or INFO to any message (automatic replies are provided by Twilio), contact your Organization’s IT help desk, or email support@credenti.com.

6. Privacy

Credenti does not share, sell, or provide your mobile phone number or messaging consent data to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Mobile information is shared only with service providers, such as Twilio, as needed to deliver the messages you requested. For details on how we collect, use, and protect your information, see our Privacy Policy. For how Twilio handles message data, see the Twilio Privacy Notice.

7. Your Responsibilities

7.1 Your Phone Number

You represent that you are the account holder or an authorized user of the mobile phone number you enroll. If you change or give up your mobile phone number, you agree to remove it from your account security settings or notify your Organization promptly.

7.2 Eligibility

You must be authorized by your Organization to use its applications in order to participate in the SMS Program.

8. Delivery and Carrier Disclaimer

Messages are delivered through mobile carriers and third-party networks. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Credenti does not guarantee delivery and is not responsible for delays or failures caused by your mobile carrier, network conditions, device settings, or coverage. Supported carriers include major U.S. carriers; availability may vary.

9. Changes to These SMS Terms

Credenti may update these SMS Terms from time to time, including to reflect changes in law or carrier requirements. The current version will always be posted on this page with the “Last Updated” date. Continued participation in the SMS Program after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated SMS Terms.

10. Governing Law

These SMS Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, U.S.A., without regard to its conflict of laws principles, consistent with Credenti’s EULA & Terms of Service. Any disputes shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Harris County, Texas.
